It also gives Jackson's biography: born in Ontario in 1925, MIT PhD in 1949 under Weisskopf, McGill 1950-57, Illinois 1957-67, Berkeley from 1967, emeritus 1999.

General Info PhL 11.5.09
My "green Jackson" is the first edition, 1962. I used it around 1970 in his course.
The second edition is "red Jackson" published in 1975.
The third edition is "blue Jackson" published in 1998. I have a downloaded bootleg version of this book so I can see what things have been added and omitted since the green book.
Wiki gives some Jackson personal info and a link to his personal website.
born Ontario 1.19.25 1925 this was only 8 years after APL was born (which was 1917).
BS Univ of Western Ontario 1946
PhD at MIT 1949 with Vicky Weisskopf.
Dave did 6 months more at MIT, then went to McGill (Montreal) as a "math professor" in 1950 and became there an "associate professor", spending 1950-1957 at McGill.
He then went to Univ of Illinois for 10 years, 1957-1967, during which time he wrote "the book".
In 1967 he went to Berkeley forever. Went Emeritus in 1999, 10 years ago.
So in 2009 Dave must be 2009-1925 = 84 years old.
